How do you feel about the 2014 recruiting class? Did we get better?

Personally I think we got better. Filled some holes on DL and WR. Think we will be a lot more athletic on D next year. Young guys were athletic just weren't ready to go. Add in Wes Lunt as a technically a recruit for this class. I'm excited for next year. Not going to be B1G champs but I expect a bowl game

Can we just admire the names, Geronimo, Jihad, and the twins?

But in all honestly I think we have gotten better through our recruiting. In 2015 I want to see us hit the OL and DL hard. Starting with OL Gabe Megginson and Quinn Oseland from downstate. Would be great gets IMO

I am a fan of both of the Stone-Davis brothers. Both big physical players, also coming in with 3 years of eligibility left so they are sophs.

3/4* ATH Trent Sherfield is reopening his recruitment. Was committed to Vandy and is now considering Illinois. From Danville same as Coach Colby. Would be a very good get for Illinois

I'd like to see us lock up RB Dre Brown. 2015 recruit out of Dekalb. Needs to bulk up a bit but his 4.4 speed carries over while he's in pads.

Definitely would be a nice get in 2015. I like him a lot. Need these top in-state kids to start staying home

It'll be interesting to see if we can lock up some top 300 recruits. Something to think about is Beckman's job security

Ya Miles Boykin the WR from Providence Catholic is very high on Illinois, loves Cubit and the offense. Would be huge he is currently a 4* and could be a 5*. Just really need to address the OL and DL

Beckner needs to be a top priority, especially since he's in state. Of course there's the before mentioned Megginson and Oseland

I am sure Beckner is but we need him to show interest back. Megginson and Oseland have showed a good amount of interest.

Speaking of DL, does anyone know what's going on with Paul James and is LQ status

Paul James is back and will be starting classes again this semester. That is a great thing to have him back. Could use him next year

I think we really need to start getting a solid walk on program. Take advantage of this if adding a walk on gets you another better player take him. Start taking solid kids from good high school programs and build good relationships through this. Sometimes players even work out and contribute.

Reese Ryan QB from Lexington KY says Illinois is recruiting him the hardest. He is a 247 composite 4*. Would be a great pick up

Have to think the Illini have the upper hand between them and Louisville. Petrino is a very polarizing coach.

QBs are really taking notice of Cubit. He knows what he is doing when it comes to QBs. Look at Nate's numbers his first 3 years to this year.

What 2014 recruit do you think will have the most impact and why next year?

Has to be either Jihad Ward or Tyrin Stone-Davis. Ward is just a freak of nature and it would be hard to imagine him not doing well. Tyrin is a big body with great speed, should fit well in Cubit's offense.
